Narrating spaces: site specific interior pieces

Chandelier installation at Doris Duke mansion

Judit was commissioned to create an artwork for the Doris Duke mansion as part of a curated group exhibition. Doris was a patron for innovation and art and considered an early visionary. Judit sought to create a piece that bridged the past with the future aesthetic while representing the movement of time. Inspired by Doris Duke's profound connection to nature, particularly her passion for orchids and her enduring legacy in developing new orchid species.  While Judit's installation 'Phalaenopsis Doris' chandelier, stands as a testament to Doris Duke's visionary approach to timeless design and her unwavering love for the natural world, it also represents the movement of time by slowly changing shape over time.

Each petal, abstracted from an orchid's form and delicately etched with intricate vein-like details, adds layers of visual complexity and intrigue. The exhibition, celebrating the mansion's unique blend of historical grandeur and contemporary design, explored the theme of time's enduring presence.

Doris Duke, a passionate orchid cultivator and an entrepreneurial collector of innovative designs and artifacts, embodies the spirit of this exhibition. The chandelier's design reflects this ethos, featuring a gradual, dynamic transformation that symbolizes the passage of time. Four distinct, recognizable states represent the four seasons, creating a captivating visual narrative.

Flying walls

Tiles designed on multiple dimensions

Cultural exchange is a large aspect of our lives today. Looking to combine both western and the eastern aesthetic elements, while balancing elegance and drama. The tiles are designed with finely elevated 3 dimensional shapes which are printed over with interact details to create movement at multiple depths. The tiles were inspired by dragonflies and their duality of being both mysteriously beautiful and unsettling. Finding a balance between the two to create a vision that invites the viewer for a discovery of the unknown.

Metamorphosis

Wall lighting installation

The soft shapes gently undulate across the walls, seamlessly integrating into the space. As the light illuminates the surface, a mesmerizing display of detailed and abstract jellyfish-like patterns emerges.

The once three-dimensional sculptural installation transforms into a captivating two-dimensional artwork, a visual feast of abstract forms that beckons the viewer to explore further.

The abstract jellyfish patterns mimic their elusive dance, appearing and vanishing like spectral forms within the ocean's deep embrace. They linger between the shallows and the abyss, creating an ethereal and mesmerizing visual experience.
